Tilted Transparency Vase - White
The Transparency Vases show off the beautiful technique of Rice Pattern. To achieve this detail each vase is hand-carved to create circle patterns that are then later filled in with glaze after each piece is bisqued. This approach creates a transparent element in each piece that allows light through. The interior is fully glazed in the same clear celadon while the exterior is left raw yet polished so the porcelain is nice and smooth.
While all these pieces come from only two molds, one of them is not like the other. Each vase is individually altered or decorated to establish elements of uniqueness. Every piece is also handmade, and as such, parts of the making process can present in the pieces such as slight warpage, glaze drips, pinholes, etc. These details are there to remind you that they were made with a whole lot of love and care.
